Explore the EM Art of Glassblowing
This site is dedicated to my father, Elmo Maiolatesi, his life, accomplishments, and his dedication as a prolific Glassblower.
Elmo started his career in Glassblowing in 1938 at the age of 19 years old. That year, he created “The Mayo Sign Company.” From January 30 to May 1, 1939, he attended The Egani Neon Glass Blowing School in New York. His two older brothers followed in his footsteps and became glassblowers.
He worked on the first televisions, making Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT). He fabricated glassware in support of making the Atomic Bomb. Elmo also worked with world-renowned doctors at Johns Hopkins University on the Blue Baby Method and Heart-Lung Apparatus. Elmo loved to give lectures and perform demonstrations at local Elementary Schools.
I hope you enjoy his journey!
